Latest Ratings

I looked up Tim's rating in my secret database and it was 709, so he'll be joining the top group next week. Only perfect score on worksheets was Tim. Congrats. Robert Michaela and Charlie and Julia each missed one problem.

Current Ratings April 15, 2011

Just a reminder of how you gain and lose rating points.
+5 for attendance
-1, 2 or 3 each time you goof off in class -5 for using pieces inappropriately or kibbitzing.
Anywhere from +1 to +31 for winning or -1 to -31 for losing whether in club or in tournaments.
Draws can gain or lose up to 15 points.
Solving problems correctly on worksheets are generally 2 points per problem.

If you're new this session I started you at 100 points - you'll have to work your way up.

Statewide Tournament Results

Congratulations to the Elementary Chess Team from Salem Hills. They took 4th place in the statewide competition.

Top scorers were Robert Thai, Chase Campbell, and Jack Olson with 5 points each and Michaela Long and Addison Scufsa with 4 points. Each received a medal for scoring team points. The new trophy will be on display at school.

In the primary competition, Donald Thai scored 5 points and finished in 13th place. It was the highest finish for anyone in 1st grade or under!

Statewide chess results from day 1.

After day 1, the Salem Hills Chess Team is has a firm grip on 4th place in the Statewide Chess competition. Governor Dayton addressed the crowd and encourage the kids before round 1.
Michaela Long and Chase Campbell currently lead the team with 4 points out of a possible 5.
Robert Thai, Addison Scufsa, Jack Olson and Charlie Dempsey each have 3. So the team is well poised for a good day tomorrow.
