No teams this time unless 4 of you want to compete with the 7th 8th and 9th graders - we could.

I jumped ahead a lesson, so today's lesson was on pinning pieces. You should have learned:
1) How to find a pin - "Two big pieces on a line - look out it's pinning time!"
2) After you pin a piece, ATTACK IT!
3) Don't be in a hurry to take the pinned piece - it's not going anywhere
4) Even a pin on a pawn can be dangerous

Next week we will learn notation. Advanced players will notate their games.

WHERE: Metcalf Middle School Take 35E to Diffley head west for 1.4 mi just past Cedar on left
WHEN: Register by 8:30 at the door. Or some of you may have registered on-line
HOW MUCH? $22 ($20 if you've played before) + $5 for lunch or bring your own.
HOW MANY? Games - 5. Players for a team - 3 or more.
HOW LONG? Each game takes an hour. You'll be done by about 2:00 but awards are til 3:00.
WHO? If your rating is 400 or better, you should go. If 300 or better, you could go
